Stargate SG1

Stargate-SG1 is a thrilling roller coaster of Sci-Fi action, adventure and drama, produced by the world movie production leaders, MGM.The serial was filmed primarily in Canada. The overwhelming patronage given by the TV audiences of Europe, Australia, Japan, North America and other countries helped the serial gain as one of the top Sci-Fi products, often even being compared to the hugely successful Star Trek series. MGM, who always strives for better quality of pictures, presented the serial in high quality HD recently, giving the season a new lease of life, and with new up and coming conclusions are set to offer more of the same recipe with new modern twists.

The main theme of Stargate SG1 has primarily been about defending the earth against the enemies of other galaxies and peace keeping liaisons between other warring worlds. The series has continued for many seasons, even breaking world records records. It has also found a place in the Guinness book of world records as the “longest running science fiction serial ever”

The story usually opens by exploration of various planets by SG-1 for a new civilization. One of the characters of this well known series, Daniel Jackson, a historian takes the serial further. The comparisons of philosophical theories of the civilizations have been given importance in the serial. The episodes introduce the viewers to various lands such as Atlantis and make them engrossed in its unique features that are beyond the viewer’s imagination. Some beautiful locations pictures in the serial resemble the splendor Arcadia of Greece. ‘The Flagship team’ comprises the various groups that are involved in the exploration.

The Audio quality is very impressive and the background music is simply amazing. The tunes are brilliant and very hummable. Every episode is accompanied by a commentary.

Showtime had produced and broadcasted up to 5 seasons and later on from the sixth season it was taken over by Sci-Fi channel.The Sci-Fi channel had decided to stop the production after the tenth season and the Metro Golden Mayor was willing to continue the serial. The tenth season ended with the last episode “Unending”. There are indications that the third serial is coming up with the title “Stargate universe” .

Although the Sci-fi had officially announced of their decision not to continue with the serial, the Executive producer Cooper was optimistic that the show may continue in other networks. It seems that the “serial rating” was the main factor for non renewal of the production.  The other networks might be interested to continue the broadcast in the event of increased patronage by the viewers. The MGM has however not abandoned the serial and hoped to continue franchise with other networks like G4 and Showtime.

Due to the objection raised by the Sci-fi channel for continuation of the serial by other networks, the MGM had dropped the proposal to continue the serial and decided to produce two movies with the same production crew who were associated with the Stargate-SG1. Due to the rising popularity of the stories of different seasons, games were launched based on the serial. A wide range of websites also dedicated themselves by featuring downloads, lyrics, archives and trance music, involving the characters and theme of Stargate.

For viewers who wish to get mesmerized by the magic of the serial, DVDs have been launched in the market that integrates a number of seasons or if a particular season has been missed by a regular viewer, these DVDs could serve as a guide. However visitors to such websites must be careful of fake information that could be a fan fiction.
